R. Kelly and His Supporters: No More Apologies for Sexual Violence in Any Form #RKelly

I’ve decided to repost Ending Violence Against Women and Girls, the blog I wrote a few years back given all the comments, pro and con, as new allegations and information about the R. Kelly sexual violence and assault scandal, which dates back at least 15 years, dominate social media. Lost in many of the conversations are raw, real, and honest discussions about systems of oppression that dominate and destroy the lives of women and girls every single day across our planet. Yes, we are talking patriarch, sexism, misogyny, and the fact that the New York Times, just a few years ago, said that violence against women and girls is one of the major human rights issue, globally, for the 21st century. It is in that spirit that we at BK Nation offer a range of blogs and ideas not just about R. Kelly, but about this topic in general, and ultimately about us, and the kinds of human beings we are, in these times. —KEVIN POWELL

R. Kelly Album Art

“R. Kelly SINGS about his crimes, flaunts it in our faces. FOR YEARS. That’s what makes what he does sick beyond belief. He rides out on having sex with Black GIRLS and getting away with it. Look at this from his new album. She looks like a CHILD. ON PURPOSE.”—ANONYMOUS
